If you experience problems with Staingate, the display’s coating will peel off. It will look as if your MacBook display has stains.
The issue is particularly noticeable when the display is off or when there’s backlighting. In such cases, we’ll completely remove the coating so that the display looks good again.
If your display goes dark the more you open the screen, the problem may be a fault in the flex cable (ribbon cable), which Apple designed to be too short.
This causes the cables to bend too sharply and eventually break, resulting in the backlight failing. The good news is that in such cases, the MacBook display can be repaired.
If you experience a “purple screen” (vertical purple stripes on the MacBook display), a speck of dust is likely lodged in the ribbon cable. In such cases, we can repair the cables or replace the MacBook display.

The serial number is located on the bottom of your MacBook. It consists of 11–13 characters and includes letters and numbers.
If you can’t find the serial number, we’d be happy to help you identify your MacBook by phone (+49 231 22 61 46 30) or via WhatsApp.

In our experience, however, in most cases it is not a production defect, but typical application errors that lead to having to repair or replace a MacBook display. Such a typical mistake can be, for example, forgetting an in-ear headset on the keyboard before closing the display. The result: The display breaks. In such a case, you have to replace the MacBook display.
People also often use the wrong webcam covers. This is particularly dangerous and often goes unnoticed. Because they are too thick, all the pressure is concentrated on a small area when the display is closed. If you close the screen too quickly, the display will break.
In case of water damage, it also happens that the display draws liquid. This is how a so-called cloud formation occurs. The name comes from the fact that the background of the display is unevenly illuminated and resembles clouds. The good news is that this is cosmetic damage. Functionally, the display is fully functional and can still be used. If you want to undo this damage, you have to replace the display.
For us, it is easy to see what is going wrong and how to fix it. However, we also know that many customers don’t have this knowledge and don’t know if you can have the MacBook display replaced or repaired.
